One of our most favourite things to do here at AA Physiotherapy is post-op rehabilitation!
Most people require physiotherapy rehabilitation after knee surgery. Even better, seeing your physio before the surgery helps get you as strong as possible before your operation.
Sometimes, working together with your physio and doctors can mean delaying or even avoiding surgery.
Common surgeries for the knee are:
knee replacement,
knee arthroscopy,
knee reconstruction (anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction).
What to expect after surgery:
Most often, a physio will come and see you in the hospital. They will usually give you some exercises, and make sure you are safe to walk around at home. Often, the physio will help you with fitting a walking aid.
Once you’re home, it’s good to get to the physio clinic soon after you have been checked by the surgeon. We can help you get walking normally as soon as possible. Also, we check your exercises, help get the movement back in your knee and help your knee build strength!
Physio can answer lots of questions about knee surgery, and at AA Physiotherapy, we always work closely with your GP and orthopaedic surgeon to get the best result for you!
