Winter Sport Season – Injury Prevention

Winter Sport Season – Injury Prevention

Early this century, scientists sought to find a way to prevent injuries in Danish European Handball players.  This led to several programmes being developed to prevent injuries in different sports codes.

They all have a great amount of evidence behind them, and are easily integrated into a typical warm up for training and games.

The KNEE programme for Netball
Power Step for Rugby Union
FIFA 11+ for Soccer

Most of these exercises can be completed by yourself.  However, the best way to introduce these exercises is to involve your local club or your coach. Abby is a KNEE certified practitioner, and am happy to come and chat to your club about the merits of the programmes.

For an in-depth discussion about kids and sports injuries, check out this SBS Insight episode.

If you have ongoing pain or discomfort with sport, come and see us at AA Physio to get you back on track and find the best way to keep you moving.
